Safety Information

This transformer must be installed following the National Electric Code (NEC) and local regulations. Failure to follow these codes can void the warranty and may cause serious injury or damage. This product is designed for above-ground installation only.

Warnings:

• Keep at least 3m (10ft) away from pools, spas, or fountains as per NEC Article 411.5 (B).
• Use a GFCI-protected receptacle. If installed outdoors, use an in-use weatherproof cover.
• Transformers are rated for indoor and outdoor use, but outdoor mounting is recommended.
• Must be mounted vertically at least 1 foot above the ground.
• The unit may become hot, so avoid contact with PVC or plastic sidings.

Installation & Setup

Selecting Your Wire

For optimal performance, use 12 AWG low voltage direct landscape wire. Distribute fixtures evenly along the cable, placing higher wattage fixtures closer to the transformer when possible.

Voltage Loss Calculation

Formula:
(distance [ft] × load [W] × 2) ÷ cable constant = voltage loss

Selecting Voltage Taps

Multi-Tap Transformers allow for multiple voltage selections to compensate for voltage loss over longer runs.

Mounting the Transformer

• Mount to a solid surface using stainless steel screws (not included).
• Use a bubble level to ensure proper vertical alignment.
• Ensure the bottom is at least 1 foot above the ground.

Transformer Sizing

Calculate the correct transformer size:

• Total Fixture Load (Watts or VA) ÷ 0.7 = Minimum Transformer Capacity
• Example: If total fixture load = 200W → 200 ÷ 0.7 = 286W → Use a 300W transformer.

Configuration & Accessories

Circuit Breaker Information

Each transformer includes an internal circuit breaker for protection against electrical shorts. This does not replace the need for GFCI outlets and proper adherence to local electrical codes.

Installing a Photocell (Pre-installed in 75W model)

1. Disconnect power to the transformer before installation.
2. Remove the inner knockout on the transformer’s side.
3. Insert the photocell wire and connector through the hole.
4. Secure the photocell nut onto the unit.
5. Plug the photocell into the transformer’s connection.
6. To remove the plug, use pliers to bend the inner knockout tabs and pull the plastic plug out.

Wi-Fi Smart Socket 3.0 Integration

The Brilliance Wi-Fi Smart Socket 3.0 is designed as a replacement for traditional photocells, enabling remote control of your lighting system via the Brilliance Smart App.

Technical Requirements

• Requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection with a dBm strength of -70 or better.
• Allows for automated on-off timers, astronomical scheduling, and remote access.
